In English I like it better, because «LINGER» is not really «keep on doing what you do». Instead it’s more like the smell of a fart that continues to stink in the air, long after the person who farted has left the room.
Is there a better idiom for this?

The meaning of my post was lost in translation: My intention was «Keep up with good work, Phil»
Regarding title translation, in my understanding it is like «to hang out there», right? it translates pretty much straightforward into Russian.
I totally accept your version of title’s translation.

I was talking about the translation.
My original title was voted down by multiple Russian proofreaders, for reasons unknown. They came up with «Keep on going in that spirit». But, I really loved the «linger» fart metaphor.
When she sings.

I (and I’m sure many other English listeners) understand that she’s implying.
«Do you have to make our love stink and walk away, so that only I can smell it?»

I have no doubt that this is what she meant to say. However a kiss «lingers on my lips». Farts simply «linger». So, although that may be what she wanted to express. To me, and I’m sure I’m not alone, especially with the negative lyrics of the rest of the song, I stand by my opinion. It’s not my fault she is not the world’s best song writer, as is obvious by the trite lyrics of her songs. I give no apologies for my comments. One last thing, I do love this song, and her voice, despite its lyrics.
