Латынь – прародитель итальянской ветви индоевропейских языков. В настоящее время латинский является официальным языком Ватикана, Мальтийского ордена и Римско-католической церкви. Многие слова европейских языков и международной лексики происходят из латыни.
История латыни
Название этот язык получил от племени латинов из области Лаций, располагавшейся в середине Апеннинского полуострова. По легенде здесь Ромул и Рем в VIII веке до н. э. основали вечный город Рим. Вместе с расширением территорий Римского государства распространялся и латинский язык. К V веку нашей эры, когда пала Западная Римская империя, латынь была международным средством общения на всех завоеванных землях Средиземноморья. Несколько меньшим было влияние в Греции и ее колониях, на Сицилии и юге Апеннин.
Латынь была, пожалуй, самым развитым европейским языком того периода, с богатым лексическим составом, охватывающим и абстрактные понятия, стройной грамматикой, лаконичностью определений.
Вся история существования латыни разделяется на несколько периодов:
Латынь еще оставалась языком науки, но Галилео Галилей собственным примером заставил ученых перейти на народный итальянский язык. К XVIII веку употребление латыни сузилось до сфер науки и дипломатии.
Французская революция послужила толчком к выводу латыни из университетов, теперь преподавание велось на новых языках. В XIX веке латынь практически полностью вышла из употребления, оставаясь инструментом научных изысканий классических филологов и медиков. Следующий век вытеснил латынь из католической церкви после разрешения ведения богослужений на национальных языках.
В современно мире латынью пользуются медики, биологи, филологи. Большинство научных терминов пришли к нам из латыни, и она превратилась в интернациональный научный язык.
