Одной субботой прошлой зимы, мои лучшие друзья Эми, Мария, Грег, Энди и я решили провести выходные в дядином, большом, старом, загородном доме. На улице была гроза и мы решили провести уютный вечер в гостиной, которая находилась на первом этаже за разговором.

Вдруг за окном подул сильный ветер. Свет моргнул и погас. «Что это?»- спросил я. «Не бойся, Джон, это всего лишь короткое замыкание,»- успокоил меня Грег. Мы решили рассказывать ужастики в темноте. Потом произошла яркая вспышка молнии, осветившая всю комнату. Раздался громкий вздох. «Энди пропал!»- крикнула Эми.

Мы все смотрели друг на друга смущённо и испуганно, потому что никто не видел, как Энди вышел из комнаты. Мы прошли вокруг дома, звали Энди, но он не откликался. Мы вернулись обратно в гостиную и решили обдумать, что нам дальше делать. Вдруг мы услышали громкий храп из-за угла комнаты. В тот момент включился свет. Мы увидели Энди, крепко спящего на большом, бархатном диване!

Энди стал сонно подниматься и тереть глаза.»О, хорошо, свет включился!»- сказал он. «Я очень устал, хотел спать и не заметил, как задремал. Я не хотел никого отвлекать и незаметно прошёл сюда.» Мы все сразу успокоились.

One Saturday last winter, my best friends Amy, Maria, Greg, Andy and I decided to spend the weekend in my uncle’s big, old house in the country. It was stormy outside, so we decided to spend a cosy evening chatting together in the living room downstairs.

Suddenly, there was a powerful gust of wind. The lights flickered then went out altogether. ‘What was that?’ I said. ‘Don’t worry, John, it’s just a power cut,’ Greg reassured me. We carried on laughing and telling scary stories in the dark. After a while, there was a bright flash of lightning that lit up the whole room. There was a loud gasp. ‘Andy is missing!’ Amy cried.

We all looked at each other confused and scared, because no one had seen Andy leave the room. We felt our way around the house, calling Andy, but there was no reply. We went back to the living room and tried to think of what to do next. Just then, there was a loud snore from the corner of the room. At that moment, the lights came back on. There was Andy, fast asleep on a big, velvet sofa!

Andy sat up sleepily, rubbing his eyes. ‘Oh good, the lights are back on!’ he said. ‘I was sleepy and felt. Like a snooze. I did not want anyone to trip oveT me so I crawted over here.’ We were all very relieved.

1. Read what Laura says about a typical working day:

I usually get up at 7 o’clock and have a big breakfast. I walk to work, which takes me about half an hour. I start work at 8.45. I never have lunch. I finish work at 5 o’clock.
