«You need a soldier to join this server»
I keep getting this error when I’m trying to play Battlefield 4 using the free game time that origin is offering.
I’m trying to join a multiplayer server through battlelog and the error says «You nedd a soldier to join this server»
I’ve talked to Origin help about 3 — 4 over a week ago and yet they fail to resolve the problem. From what I gather, the Battlelog just isn’t creating a new soldier for BF4 on PC.
Sort of getting a wee bit frustrating. Has anyone had the same problem or found a fix for it?

Why would anyone want to buy a shoddy product if the «demo» doesnt even work? Throw away money at a faulty game? No thanks, last battlefield I played was Battlefield 2 and I loved it, I noticed this «free game time» crap the other day and thought why not give it a try since its such a generous promotion. If I like it I’ll spend the few bucks and buy the game if they get me «hooked» with there 7 days time trial.
So I downloaded origin, dug up my dusty account info and forgotten password, downloaded the WHOPPING 22gb file and first thing I got was: Error, enter CD key your game time was already used up. Chatting with support they tell you to re-download the game! Believe it or not I let the game download again while I did other stuff for another 3+ hours and I get the error «you need a soldier to join this server» which explains NOTHING to a completely new player by the way. I need a soldier? Google and research led me to understand its a player profile that for some reason failed to create this time around because of some battlelog service. All I wanted to do was to give this game a try from the impressive «free game time» promo that I figured would be fair to earn them a new customer but all these darn tech issue’s only send new players running for the hills.
I’ll try this a few more times but I already feel disgusted for wasting so much time and can’t wait to remove this garbage game and garbage software that forced itself with it onto my computer asap.

Thank you! It sums up the exact problem. «Why not just buy the game?» Oh I don’t know? Maybe because there’s a free demo on offer and if i get hooked i might buy it.
Now more recently, has anyone had any luck with this shoddy problem? I’ve just got a new PC and i’m pretty to download it to test some benchmarking etc.
I believe they’ve also bumped up the amount of trial to 168 hours.
Also.. my connection takes around 8 — 9 hours to download this 22gb game. Pretty frustrating when you wait that long only to find such a crummy error.

Some anticheat systems could show false positives if you run your system in a virtualized environment. For example, if you run windows on KVM.
Other anticheat systems would scan screenshots for things that generate on screen overlays. Some programs like certain voip communication software can show onscreen overlays in game and the anticheat would ban people who did not cheat. ORIGIN CLIENT is one of the many programs that create on screen overlays in game.
I don’t know this anticheat system but it is quite possible that there is a database that reveals the stated reason why you have been detected. It could be something like detection of «suspicious process name» or anything like that.
If you did not violate Terms of Service you have the right to either get the service or get your money back. There is no way around it, as in, there is no such thing as not taking responsibility for service if flaws in their anticheat prevent you from having your service.
On the other hand, if you did violate Terms of Service, you got what you deserve.
