При этом Григорий не имел диплома и ему не разрешалось заниматься врачебным делом. Судя по учениям, которые он распространял, и его образу жизни, к духовенству Распутин тоже имел лишь косвенное отношение. Его также неоднократно обвиняли в «распутных» отношениях с женщинами, однако эти факты не имеют убедительного подтверждения. Как и слухам о влиянии врача на политические дела страны, о котором говорится в песне.
В песне Boney M рассказывается реальная история, но сам образ — скорее карикатура, где он предстает в виде искусного обольстителя и любимчика всех московских девушек.
